Why It Matters
Groups are lightweight containers best used for temporary organization or simple clustering. They can't have their own fill, stroke, or auto layout—they simply group elements for convenience. When you need more control, convert groups to frames. Many designers use groups as a quick selection tool and frames for actual structure.
Examples
Grouping three icons together to move them as a unit while designing.
A group of text layers that need to stay together but don't need container styling.
Selecting multiple elements and pressing Cmd/Ctrl+G creates a group.
